What decorating in London actually involves
In a period house the work is mostly repair before colour: lime plaster that has lost its key, cracked stucco on the front, sash windows that need burning off, ceilings with four generations of distemper and paper on them. In a post-war flat the surfaces are usually flat but the paint is chalky and the ceilings low, so the job is careful sealing and clean lines. In a new-build the challenge is developer-grade paint that marks if you look at it, which we replace with a durable matt. Our painter and decorator service covers the whole spectrum, with plastering, spraying and exterior work from the same team.
Neighbourhoods and housing stock we work in
Westminster, Vauxhall, Oval, Stockwell, Kennington, Hackney, Dalston, Homerton and Lower Clapton are all familiar ground, along with the outer towns listed further down this page. The stock runs from Georgian and Victorian terraces through interwar semis, early mansion blocks, converted townhouses, post-war council estates, concrete towers and office-to-residential conversions. For the exteriors, masonry paint on London render and stucco is the most requested job; inside it is whole-flat repaints and hallways.
Working practicalities in the capital
Parking permits, congestion and ULEZ zones, loading restrictions and concierge bookings are part of every London job and we plan for them. Communal hallways and lifts are protected on the way in. Working hours follow the lease or the block rules where there are any. For flats above shops, in conservation areas or in listed buildings we advise on what needs consent, which is usually nothing for like-for-like decoration inside but can matter for external colour changes.

Which parts of London do you cover?
The base is central London and the coverage runs about 20 miles out, so inner boroughs, the outer suburbs and the towns just beyond the boundary are all included. The list further down this page names every town in the plan.
Do you decorate flats in mansion blocks and towers?
Yes, a large share of the work. We book lifts with the concierge, protect communal areas and follow the block's working hours. High ceilings in mansion flats are done from a tower rather than ladders.
Can you handle period features like cornice and stucco?
Yes. Ornate plaster cornice is cleaned and repainted by brush; damaged sections are repaired before painting. Exterior stucco is repaired and painted with a breathable masonry paint.
Do you need parking or access arranged?
A visitor permit or a parking bay suspension for the van makes the job quicker, and we tell you at booking what is needed. Otherwise we work around it.
